"T" separates player's opponent from player's accumulated
game points.
Draw is 1, Win is 2 points, Bye is 3, and Forfeit is 4.
Flavious Burgess dominated the B Class Division after the third round with
an outstanding performance, accumulating 24 out of a possible 28 points,
with 6 wins and a draw which requires him to move up to the A Class
Division next year.
Please note, this was Derrick Bartotto's first ACF rated tournament so his
before 1600 base rating is provisional, and his performance against other rated players
who won games will not increase their ratings until he completes his first 20 games.
His performance against other rated players will stabilize his provisional
rating after his initial 20 games.
Roger Doll, IL State Open Tournament Director gave a warm welcome to 26 players
from 8 states (14 Masters and 12 Majors) 7 from IL; 6 from KY; 5
from TN; 3 from MO; 2 from IN, and 1 from LA,
OH, & WV. In the 9:00AM business meeting Roger conducted ISCA business, re-elected officers
(accepted Ramon Dionisio, President's resignation and Roger Doll accepted
the acting position of Pres/Sec/Tres). He covered tournament rules and
schedule. He recognizing the longest distance travelers and also
the various state champions.
The ISCA leadership voted last year to withhold the required American
Checker Federation membership for all participants in any Illinois
tournament, no ACF Membership is required to play in Illinois.
Illinois State Checker Association
contributed $200, Ramon Dionisio $300, Larry Keen $100, and a $50
donation toward
the prize fund was greatly appreciated.
Entry fees were $10.00 x 26 = $260.00 and the $650 contributions made a
$910 Total Tournament Cash Prize Fund. Approximately 58% paid out to Masters and 42% to Majors. Please mark your calendar to the first weekend in October (10/4-5) for
the Illinois 101 Tournament. The 80th Illinois 101 Counties Open will be
held on our traditional dates as the 4th & 5th this year, at the same venue
which we have used for both IL State and the 101 Tournament. I've hear
comments from those who attend say, "This is a great tournament location
because it gives checkers the much needed attention and exposure in the
Mall." The Super 8 is clean, well maintained, has all the
necessary amenities, and
conveniently located to the Mall, plus reasonable rates for good value.
We appreciate ISCA for negotiating the $52 room rates which are usually in
the $65-75 range.
Roger Doll presented the Illinois Class A and Class B winners Gene Ellison
and Earl Kennell their respective trophies as the IL State Open Class A &
B Champions in the closing tournament ceremony.
Judy Grisley continues to do an outstanding job photographing the
tournament and getting the group picture. We appreciate her effort
and talent. I also want to mention that the bulk of our photos are
by Linda and Mike Choate. Results submitted by Roger Doll, ISCA Secretary/Treasurer & Illinois State Open Tournament Director - email
